City of Vienna

Many tourists from all over the world that traveled here for their Vienna vacations always have this idea and impression that Vienna is a place full of romance. An ideal place for couples. Well, perhaps it is true as it never fails to impress visitors, even those repeat visitors who have visited Vienna previously. Vienna offers a great varieties of architectural designs from the late 19th century imperial projects right up to today's modern municipal planning. Even today, when you go for your Vienna vacations, you could still discover that Vienna actually still retains very much of its past glory from the great empire's early days. Vienna is one of the most culturally important cities in Europe as it has being a nurturing place for classical music since the eighteenth century.

Today visitors could still find museum treasures and artifacts collected from all over Europe, lively classical music, paintings of great artists, magnificent concert halls and opera, as if the empire is still in existence. However, as interesting as it may seems, Vienna is still viewed by the Austrians in the Alpine as an outsider, a strange and alien metropolis in the east with dialect beyond their understanding.

Before the tenth century, Vienna was never an important city. However, in the tenth century, with the emergence of the Babenberg rule, Vienna became a crucial center. Vienna fell into Rudolf of Habsburg rule in the year 1278. And due to its vulnerable position as well as its defenselessness from the imminent attack by the Turks, Vienna has to constantly compete with Graz, Prague and Linz to be a place of choice for the imperial residence. However the court made Vienna its permanent base in 1683 after the elimination of the threat by the Turkish.

Tourists coming for their Vienna vacations are increasing every year. They are here to view and experience the many great architectures and arts of Vienna, to feast, to explore and to sail down River Danube. Vienna is indeed a city that you will need days to really savor and appreciate in order to really see all the marvels that this great magical city has to offer.
