Just like everything else in the continent, the climate in Europe is as inconsistent. Towards the north-western side of Europe with places like Denmark, Benelux, British Isle, southwestern Norway, some parts of Germany and in most of France, the weather is usually a cool pleasant one, with nothing out of the extremes. Anytime is a good time to travel in this part of Europe. However, during the months of November to March, the climate may be a little damp due to the winter months. This is especially in the upland regions. And when it comes to the summer season between May and September, it is the best and most enjoyable time to travel Europe due to the pleasant drier weather.

However, the weather conditions are more extreme in the eastern Europe where you could experience freezing winters and hot sweltering summers. These are the places like Poland, eastern Germany, Central Russia, the Czech and Slovak republics, southern Sweden, Austria, Hungary and Switzerland, just to name a few. So for this part of Europe, the best time to travel is the transitional seasons of spring and autumn as it is the most pleasant time to do so. It may be very unpleasant and cold during the deep midwinter but unlike the northwestern European weather, it is drier and not as damp.

The most welcoming climate in Europe where you could actually travel at any time throughout the year is the southern Europe with countries like Italy, Portugal, southern France, Spain, western Turkey, Morocco and Greece. The weather here is generally warm with dry summers and the winter is mild, although it could get rather hot during the peak summer months and wet during the deep winter.

When planning for your European vacations, there are obviously other factors to consider as well. If you plan to have your vacation at the beach resorts in the Mediterranean which is a very popular tourist destinations, try to avoid July and August as it is a peak season. The resorts will be very congested and the weather can be rather hot. Besides, you will also have to take note that in some European countries, everyone will take their vacation at the same time. Example, in Italy, France and Spain, August is the month when everyone goes away for holidays. During this peak period, you can expect a bad congestion in the resorts while only tourist will be left behind in the cities.

In some areas like the northern Scandinavia, the weather and climate could be so extreme that opening times are relentlessly constrained, that even the roads and rail lines are closed, making travel quite impossible. This is outside the May to September period. While across the continent's mountainous areas between December and April, it is the winter sports season where you could only find things open there. Elsewhere outside the main resorts, the rest are closed. However, between mid April and mid June, the mountain resorts can be a very quiet place and this is a good time when you could have the whole place to yourself to enjoy your vacation in Europe.
