Germany Vacations

It has always been a long way from the truth as far as the stereotype of Germany as a great monolith is concerned. In German life, regional characteristics are a strong attribute, and there are many spillovers from the days when the country was nothing but just a patchwork of independent states. Visitors could travel from the north of the ancient ports, going across the German plain's open fields, down through the Ruhr metropolis, and then straight on to the mountains, forest and cosmopolitan cities of the south to savor the Germany vacations experience of a different varieties as great as any European country can offer.

Rebuilding continues as Berlin moves deep into the 21st century, especially in East Berlin, which is also known as the dreary old "Cold War sector". With that, Berlin has now managed to solidly established itself as the a unified Germany's capital. The Berlin Wall which was once the city's biggest tourist attraction, is now just a bicycle path where Berliners push baby strollers and taking their strolls. Restored baroque Munich, in the south, known as Germany's "secret capital", among the scenic highlights are the Bavarian Alps on Munich's doorstep, the Bodensee (Lake Constance) marking the border with the Swiss, the Black Forest and the Rhine Valley, whole majestic sweep has spawned a rich fund of legends and folklore.

Several cities possess the air of national capitals. Cologne, with a magnificent cathedral, is rich in great monuments and is ideal for a Germany travel. Another star attraction for Germany vacations is Munich, with an all night long flourishing nightlife and great museums. Hamburg, in 1943, was burnt to the ground is now a peasant city with nightlife comparable to what could be found in Berlin, while the tall skyscrapers in Frankfurt will signify to its role as the economic powerhouse  of the postwar reconstruction and rebuilding.

Towards the east, as well as Berlin, there's the Baroque grandeur of Dresden. However, in many respects you can get a richer experience for your tours of Germany vacations in the smaller German towns. There's nowhere as well loved as the university city of Heidelberg, while Trier, Regensburg and Rothenburg in the west and Potsdam and Meissen in the east are all interesting places that are rewarding to explore for your travel in Germany.
