Switzerland Travel / Switzerland Vacations

Switzerland VacationsIn the whole of Europe, the most visited country is probably Switzerland but ironically, it is also the country to be least understood. Each time Switzerland is mentioned, it will always brings forth the images of high mountain peaks, great mountain lakes, humble pastures, and alpine villages. At the same time, it also provides cities with affluent cultural life like Geneva that is advanced and Bern with its perfectly preserved medieval. Just try to spend a couple of days in Switzerland, and before long, you'll soon discovered all the old-fashioned stereotypes of nothing else by only chocolate, cheese and clocks.

However, you'll be able to encounter a much more rewarding Switzerland if you stay just a little longer. You'll enjoy the competent and superb mode of transportation links, magnificent sceneries and awesome sights, plus almost everyone could communicate in at least some English in Switzerland, together with some other official languages like Italian, French, German, and Romansh in the southeast.

The most visited Alpine area in Switzerland is Bernese Oberland with the loftiest Alps to be discovered in the further south, where one could find the Toblerone-peaked Matterhorn emerge above Zermatt. Whereas forested mountain slopes surround chic St Moritz is located in the southeast Switzerland. Heading towards the north, one could visit cities like Zurich which is a German-speaking city that provides many wonderful sightseeing and great nightlife. It also caters for an easy entry to the tiny principality of Liechtenstein on the Rhine.

Geneva

A lovely city with many urban attractions in a largely rural setting. You could play chess on a giant chessboard in the Parc des Bastions.

Bern

A city center that dates back to the twelfth century, and is largely unchanged since then. It is located in the north-west of Switzerland.

The Jungfrau

The highest peak in the Jungfrau massif. Located in the Bernese Alps of western Switzerland. It is not for the faint of heart, as the Jungfrau's railway station is at an elevation of 3,454 m (11,333 ft).

Wengen

A Swiss holiday resort at the foot of the Eiger-Monch-Jungfrau range. Suitable holiday vacation with every outdoor activity imaginable. The scenery is fabulous throughout the year in Wengen.
