Travel in UK HolidaysUK Holidays

When traveling around Britain on a UK holidays, the one most important thing to be aware is that you are actually visiting three different countries instead of one. They are England, Wales and Scotland which make up the United Kingdom. And that would also means, you will also be experiencing three different sets of capital cities, cultures, national identities as well as the different accent as you move from one country to another when you are on UK holidays. However, the most dominant is still England as well as the most urbanized member of the British partnership, but crossing the border into the predominantly rural Wales will brings you into an unmistakably Celtic land, whereas the presence of a profoundly non-English worldview in Scotland is definitely striking.

London itself is a ceaselessly entertaining city, and is the one "must visit" place that can be found on everyone's itinerary when they are on UK holidays. London is also the city with the most happenings in Europe with lively, fast paced and teeming with full of actions. It touts its fascinating contradictions as an overwhelming jumble of antiquity and at the same time, a world leader in the latest music, fashion, and food with the cuisine better than ever. As stimulating as the city of London is, however, you might want to tear yourself away to visit Brighton and Canterbury, which offer contrasting diversions with the former an appealing seaside resort and the latter one of Britain's finest medieval cities. The south-west of England has the rugged moorlands of Devon and the rocky coastline of Cornwall, and the classic or historic spa city of Bath. The main highlights of central England are the university cities of Oxford and Cambridge, and Shakespeare's hometown, Stratford-upon-Avon. Up further north, the former industrial cities of Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle are lively, rejuvenated places and York has splendid historical treasures, but the landscape is again the real magnet, especially the uplands of the Lake District.

For true wilderness, head to the Welsh mountains or Scottish Highlands. The finest of Scotland's lochs, glens and peaks, and the magnificent scenery of the west coast islands, can be reached easily from the contrasting cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh - the latter perhaps Britain's most attractive urban landscape for memorable UK holidays.
